Tonight’s “The Voice” results show (May 28, 2013) will be the end of the road for two more singers and if the iTunes charts are correct it looks like those singers very well could be Sasha Allen and Judith Hill with Holly Tucker also in the mix. This is just my prediction, but of the remaining eight singers, Sasha and Judith have charted the lowest on the iTunes Top 100 and are roughly 20 spots behind Holly. This gives Holly some breathing room, but not much.
As of this writing, Judith Hill’s “#ThatPower” sits at #88, but did peak into the 70’s and Sasha Allen’s “Without You” is at #87. Holly Tucker’s “Done” is currently #69. “The Voice” gives a lot of weight to the iTunes downloads and rightfully so. The main goal of the show is to find an artist who will be popular and sell records. If the fans of that singer are willing to pay to get their music, it speaks volumes about how dedicated they are. Anyone can take two minutes out of their day to vote, but to spend cash is a real vote of confidence.
Here is what we can confidently say: Danielle Bradbery and Michelle Chamuel look very safe. Danielle once again ruled the charts. Her song “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Ol’ Days)” is currently at #12 and broke into the Top 10 for a while. Michelle Chamuel’s “Grenade” currently sits at #17, but has appeared as high as #13. Amber Carrington is likely safe as well. Her rendition of the Bond theme song “Skyfall” broke into the Top 20 and currently is sitting at #31.
At #42 is The Swon Brother’s “Seven Bridges Road” followed by Sarah Simmons’ “Somebody That I Used to Know” at #50.
Once you get away from the top sellers, there is plenty of room for phone, text and internet voters to play a major role in whether or not the artist goes home. For example, Judith Hill has the second most Twitter followers behind only Danielle Bradbery so she has a following and likely can count on a good number of other votes beyond the downloads. Those fans might be enough to save her tonight and move her on to the Top 6. Also, the difference between being ranked #75 and being ranked #50 on the charts may be a relatively small number of downloads so she may not have that much ground to make up.
Going into tonight’s show, my prediction is that Sasha Allen and either Holly Tucker or Judith Hill will be sent home. I think Judith’s following is strong enough that they might carry her for one more week and I get the feeling that some of the country fans are split on who to vote for with so many country artists to choose from this season so that could cost Holly votes. It will likely be a close race to see who sneaks in and gets that 6th spot, but I will be shocked if someone other than Judith, Holly or Sasha is sent home.
Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC to see “The Voice” results show and find out which two artists are sent home. For those who are interested I have written a recap of tonight’s results show that tells you who was sent home and who made the Top 6. You can find that article here.
