2nd Annual Book Extravaganza Fundraiser at the Greater Astoria Historical Society: June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Description: Over a thousand books are available here for purchase. Subjects include history, children’s tales, fiction, non-fiction, sports, health, cookbooks, biographies, and much more. Books authored by the Greater Astoria Historical Society are also available, as well as T-shirts depicting Astoria and Long Island City.

Young Rewired State NYC at the Museum of the Moving Image: June 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Description: Teenage participants will be able to improve their coding skills, interact with one another and professional mentors, and use open government data in order to build digital projects that solve real problems facing the city. Some prior coding experienc is required and meals are provided during this intensive workshop. Pre-registration is required and this program runs until June 30.

Western Queens Green Resources Fair: June 29 at 1 p.m.
Description: Learn how you and your family can live a greener life by both saving money and the environment. This fair will have over two dozen local green organizations teaching participants through gardening, games, giveaways, and more while supplies last. Little Makers- Sidewalk Chalk at the NY Hall of Science: June 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Description: This drop-in workshop allows little ones 18 months and older to make their own sidewalk chalk designs. It is recommended for participants to be dressed in old clothing that can get splattered with things like paint, ink, and oobleck. Pre-registration is recommended and an additional $8 materials fee is required from each family.
