Country superstar Tim McGraw is set to release his fourth single from his Big Machine Records debut, “Two Lanes of Freedom.” The track is “Southern Girl,” and McGraw chose the track due to the infectious reaction from fans on his “Two Lanes of Freedom Tour 2013.”
“At the beginning of the tour, we threw a lot of new songs into the set list, and that’s always a risky thing when an album is so brand new,” said McGraw in a press release. “It didn’t take a whole weekend out there before the girls were shouting at us to play ‘Southern Girl.’ The song has a really cool groove to it that just gets everyone moving and sets the right tone for a perfect summer night.”
The “Two Lanes of Freedom Tour 2013” has been selling out venues from coast to coast, averaging more than 21,000 fans each night, and capturing the attention of critics as well.
“McGraw is approaching two decades since he broke big at mainstream country radio with 1994′s Not a Moment Too Soon. To maintain any career at the top for that long requires major stamina and showmanship. It requires a keen ear for timeless songs and for the kind of craftsmanship that accentuates the positives and compensates for the negatives. McGraw has held his own amidst a slew of male hatted and not-hatted country singers since his ascent. Some have burned bright and then flamed out. But he’s still here.” Dallas Morning News
“The man sweats star power and has an effortless, sexy swagger that make it hard to believe he’s a mere mortal, yet he performs with humility, smiling at the response from the crowd as if he’s genuinely surprised they like him.” Tampa Tribune
“With substance vastly overpowering flash, the country legend was in top form Friday night at USANA Amphitheatre, unleashing a set of hits spanning 20 years.” Salt Lake Tribune
“Southern Girl” follows up McGraw’s recent #1, “Highway Don’t Care,” which was a collaboration with labelmate Taylor Swift. The song was the singer’s 34th #1 hit of his career, and also featured guitar solos from Keith Urban.
Tim’s tour continues with stops this weekend in Hartford, CT (06/28); Boston, MA (06/29) and Holmdel, NJ (06/30).
