You guessed it! It’s fair time again. So what do you have planned next week during the Benton County Fair? Are you looking forward to the food, the rides, the animals or the exhibits?
This year it is the 101st year aniversery of the Benton County Fair. The biggest thing I have always liked since I was a child was the animals and the exhibits. I also enjoyed doing various non-animal exhibits for 4-H, such as art displays etc.
I also see the fair as a time to relax and have fun with family, teaching the kids about interesting topics and enjoying things you only get to see once in a while. It’s a time to just zone out, smell flowers, pet animals and indulge in comfort foods as well. But don’t forget the demolition derby or tracker pulls! This is a time to just go plain crazy, sit in the front row and get dirty. So go to the fair, release your tension and anxiety and just have some good ol’ fun!
Take at the article and watch the video, ‘Frozen In Time: Benton County Fair.’ By Ashli Gerdes, WJON News. Her article is an interesting read on the history of the Benton County Fair. It really was interesting to find out that the fair was actually closed down due to a polio epidemic in 1946, that also affected the state fair. Just looking at that video gives a grand sense of history into what our Benton County Fair is all about!
