Color and style go together hand in hand so why not be spot on trend with the top ten hot colors for fall 2013. No matter if you are dressing to impress at school or adding to your professional wardrobe, here are the picks that will have you looking radiant with color savvy.
Start with the Pantone color of the year, Emerald – Pantone 17-5641. This color evokes a healing, spiritual insight, and personal and professional growth. It’s also know to represent hope and love. Emerald is green number one for 13′.
Linden Green – Pantone 15-0533 is green number two. A soft grayed lemon lime, is a sophisticated neutral to brighten the pallet.
Deep Lichen Green – Pantone 18-0312 is green number three. It takes us to a mossy forest at the edge of wooded glen where we find the rare orchids blooming. For me it transports me to Germany and is reminiscent of Loden cloth worn in outer coats and capes. It’s a deeper shade of grayed green, but again a color from nature of shaded growth.
Mykonos Blue – Pantone 18-4434 is the new blue for fall 13′. It sends us to a fabulous Greek hideaway surrounded by water and ancient history. It combines the energy of the seas with a hint of green to make this blue a welcome blue for fall 13′. Ready for a trip to the Mediterranean, well this blue will give you a great start! Mykonos and Emerald are a new color combo for fall.
Acai – Pantone 19-4434 is a luscious purple toned berry. It is the new color purple for our fall color palette. Think royal, think deep and you will be right on trend with the purple of the season. Acai mixes well with the neutrals as well as with green. Acai and Samba are a lively combination too.
Samba – Pantone 19-1662 is a lively blushed pink red ready to get you in the mood for dancing. This fresh pink red is a new color for fall, yet we do see some sugar maple leaves in the fall change with flashes of Samba. Wear Samba to brighten a day and walk with a lively dance in your step.
Koi – Pantone 17-1452 is the orange of the fall season, named for the Koi fish. A warm friendly tone great to accent an ensemble. So don’t be shy, give Koi a try. This is much warmer and more natural than last year’s Tangerine Tango, so if you have warm undertones this is the orange for you.
Vivacious – Pantone 19-2045 is a deep berry pink just this side of burgundy. If you tend to be cool in coloring this will be a great color for accent and statement outfit. Yes, it’s just like the name states, you will be sparkling, effervescent and attract positive energy wearing the new berry of the season.
Turbulence – Pantone 19-4215 is a gorgeous cool slate neutral, one that I look forward to using a foundational color for fall. It has an understated elegance, which I just adore. It looks like a grey from the 40’s, but you know they say everything comes back and I’m so glad we have this grey for the season.
Carafe – Pantone 19-1116 is our shot of mocha for the season, it’s a soft brown that lends it’s self to blend and stir everything from a romantic look to smart business dressing. I remember this brown from the 70’s.
I hope you have enjoyed the fall preview of color, from Emerald the color of the year and Mykonos, the new blue and the rest of the color trends for by Pantone with my color perspectives.

My Color Tip for You by Cindy Ann Peterson
To test if a color will work for you, stand in front of a mirror with natural lighting, hold the garment up under your chin, close your eyes, now open them.
- If you see the color of the garment first it might not be your best color. I call these ‘color zappers’ because they drain the color from your face.
- Colors that don’t work well for you will make you look tired, create shadows and wrinkles on your face. Don’t commit color sabotage, only wear colors that work for your personal coloring, profession and personality to look your best everyday.
- If you see your face first, this color does not overpower your real beauty and it works for your coloring.
- Your best colors will make you look well rested, fresh, young, vital and healthy. Just something to consider the next time you are shopping.
Wearing your best colors makes huge difference in achieving your best look. Command respect with color savvy, great style and grace. Cheers to you friends. Dress and express your authentic style! ~ Cindy Ann Peterson
