The Cypress VFW will be alive and loud this Friday night, as NWA Houston returns for their “Explosion” event. Three championship matches are scheduled, including a triple threat match for the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Championship.
It’s hard enough for one man to face off against current NWA Lone Star Champion Jax Dane. But this Friday night, “Addictive and Expensive” Byron Wilcott and “Cowboy” James Claxton will step into the ring in a triple threat match and try to take down “The Vanilla Godzilla” Jax Dane in an effort to ensure that Dane doesn’t walk out as champion.
Last month, Dane nearly speared them out of their boots after this match was announced, and he has vowed to do whatever it takes to keep the title. However he’ll need to be on his game, as Claxton will match his power, and Wilcott can be as deadly as anybody in the locker room as he’s already proven. Can Jax overcome the odds and escape with the gold, or will we see a brand new champion at “Explosion?” Plus, as an added incentive for all three of these men, the winner gets a guaranteed shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in September. “Ironman” Rob Conway will definitely be interested to see who could be challenging for what is currently his title.
If you missed last month’s showdown between NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Champion Ray Rowe and challenger Ricky Starks, put your worries aside. Fans will get the rematch this Friday night in Cypress, as Rowe has agreed to put the title on the line in a rematch. Rowe has done nothing but deliver top-notch matches over the last few months, including the epic encounter with Mike Dell in April. And the young Starks opened a lot of eyes with his performance last month. They will no doubt tear the house down and give the fans every bit of the excitement and drama they had in their last match.
There has been a change of plans regarding a scheduled tag team match at “Explosion.” The NWA World Tag Team Champions, Lance Hoyt and Davey Boy Smith, Jr., were set for a rematch with the Kingz Of The Underground, Scot Summers and Ryan Genesis. However a scheduling conflict has forced the World Tag Team Champions out of the event. Enraged, Summers and Genesis were still looking for a fight, and have found one in the form of Jasper Davis and David “Super” Duperon. And to make things more interesting, Summers and Genesis will put the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Titles on the line. Summers offered some comments this week about this Friday night.
So it seems that the NWA World Tag Team Champions weren’t ready for another dose of the Kingz. We WILL regain OUR World Tag Team titles. In the meantime, we’ll just have to make an example out of Davis and Duperon and show them what we have planned for Hoyt and Davey Boy when they get back to town.
Last month, NWA Houston entered “The Danger Zone,” when Jared Wayne made his debut. His performance caught the eyes of management and he will face “One Man” Mike Dell. This could easily be one of the highlight matches of the night. A win for either man could put them in the mix for a shot at the NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Title.
Also this Friday night, fans will see the return of Chaz Taylor and Hambone as well as the debus of Eric Shadows and JC Valentine. In addition, you will see appearances by Jack Jameson, Danny Manson, Jodan, and the ultra-popular Rudy Russo.
The Cypress VFW is located at 21902 Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) between Huffmeister and Telge Road). Bell time is set for 7:30 P.M. Tickets for the event are available now by clicking HERE. The day of the show, tickets will be at the door for $15 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under.
