“True Blood” season 6 is here, and the premiere “Who Are You, Really?” that aired on June 16 started exactly where the last season left off. The Authority is gone. Luna the shifter is officially dead. Alcide is now the all-powerful wolf pack leader. Louisiana is declaring war against the vamps. And easily the most dramatic of all: Bill Compton is a monster — or is he?
Bill’s blood bath
It’s a massacre of epic proportions at the Authority’s headquarters with a bloody Bill on a rampage. But once the whole gang escapes, they have time to lighten the mood by giving Bill’s new look some nicknames. Jason calls him a “naked evil Superman,” while Pam says he wears a “slimey suit.”
Whatever he is, it’s totally creepy and powerful on the HBO’s vamp drama. And even Sookie knows he has to die, considering she tries to stab him with a stake. But Bill Compton may have died, but some other supernatural figure is now in his place. He survives the staking, creates a mini-earthquake, but the thing that surprises the loyal Jessica most of all? That he can stop a class of blood from falling to the ground.
Eric and Sookie
With Bill out of Sookie’s life — so she thinks on “True Blood” “Who Are You, Really?” — could it be that Eric stands a chance? Not really, but the sweetest moment of the night belongs to Eric and Sookie (and definitely not Tara and Pam, even if Tara takes a bullet of some sort for Pam). “To me you’ll always be that girl in the white dress, who walked into my bar,” Eric tells Sookie before signing her house back over to her. Nora now knows his biggest weakness: Sookie.
Alcide’s wolf pack
Alcide takes off his clothes, turns into a wolf, and then shows his lovely naked self. Enough said. And then he has a three way with Danielle and Rikki.
Sheriff Andy as a daddy
The most humorous moment of the night belongs to Sheriff Andy Bellefleur, who isn’t ready to be a father to a bunch of babies. But he’s even less prepared for toddlers, who his kids become seemingly overnight. “Hi Daddy!” they declare.
One of the biggest stories of “True Blood” season six is easily Warlow’s continued pursuit of Sookie. After some sibling rivalry, Jason does perhaps the stupidest thing he’s ever done. And, then the driver admits who he is when he says, “You can not keep Warlow away from Sookie.” Jason shoots his gun, and then the centuries-old vamp disappears. He won’t be gone for long though.
Who is Bill, if not Lilith?
Bill might have his old form back, instead of all that blood, but he is definitely not himself, and not just because he’s dreaming of a red-hot chain hitting him. The bloody red lady calls to him once more, but is she really Lilith? Bill isn’t quite so sure, as he asks her “Who are you, really?” just before she takes over his body, yet again.
Between Bill’s new form to the return of Warlow, season six is primed for some bloody new storyline. But that’s far from the only things going on clearly, like Sam, who is now in charge of Luna’s daughter; his role will become even more important since shifters are now hunted too.
What did you think of the “True Blood” season six premiere? Are you tired of Sookie’s dismissal, once again, of the world she lives in? What was your favorite moment? Favorite line from Jason? And do you think Jessica should be so trusting of her father-figure, Bill?
