The bill will raise tax incentives from 25% to 30% with a TV production running numerous TV seasons in the state. “Bad” recently wrapped its’ final TV season. “Longmire” has received rave reviews from critics & fans with spectacular TV ratings for the A&E network. The western movie “Jane Got a Gun” stars Natalie Portman & it has been filming in the state of New Mexico. Portman made an appearance last April at the 2013 “Gathering of Nations” Pow-wow which brings in more than 3,000 Native American dancers from the U.S. & Canada. Natalie may have been smiling for the media at the pow-wow, but her film was under pressure to resume after many replacements.
The original director Lynn Ramsey dropped out the day filming was to begin production. She was replaced by Gavin O’Conner. Michael Fassbender dropped out of a lead role. Jude Law jumped on board & then left after Ramsey opted out. Bradley Cooper agreed to star & then he dropped out only to be replaced by Ewan McGregor.
Foreign movie buyers may have been a little apprehensive about “Jane Got a Gun” at the 2013 ‘Cannes Film Festival.’ The $25 million production is still filming in New Mexico & the producers showed a cut to buyers. ‘Relativity’ & the ‘Weinstein Company’ have snapped up the rights for domestic U.S. film distribution & ‘Exclusive Media’ will handle the international/foreign distribution. It seems everyone in Hollywood has been watching the troubled production after each major star dropped out. ‘Cannes’ is the place to be when it comes to selling a movie to foreign distributors. There is no film release date set for “Jane Got a Gun” as it finishes up production in New Mexico.
