UNIT A Contemporary Art Space shows new contemporary paintings by Fort Myers artist Marcus Jansen every first Friday of the month, and has recently opened its doors from Monday to Thursday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Guest artist and former Rauschenberg assistant Jonas Stirner also will have new large and small sculpture works on display.
UNIT A serves as Jansen’s international headquarters. It recently or organized exhibitions in Milan, Italy, where Jansen is now represented by Gallery Bianca Maria Rizzi & Matthias Ritter, which extended an offer to Jansen after his selection as the only American painter included for the Arte Laguna Art Prize 2013 in Venice.
Jansen’s work is also being included in a New York City fundraiser being hosted by Rush Art Galleries and funded by Russel and Danny Simmons. Also featuring work by Shepard Fairey and Peter Max, the June 27 event is designed to bring funds to the The New York Coalition for Healthy School Food.
Jansen is also taking part through July 14 in the Boca Raton Museum of Art’s 62nd All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition. Florida’s oldest statewide annual art competition, the All Florida show highlights the breadth and creative talent of Florida’s independent artists.
The Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport, Connecticut, recently added Jansen’s Final Walk to its permanent collection. The painting is part of the Housatonic’s travelling Eye on the Storm exhibition, which launched from the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery in March. Boasting one of the most significant collections of any two-year college in the United States, the Houstonic Museum of Art has significant Early Modernist, Pop and West Coast Minimalist collections that include work by Larry Bell, Christo, Pablo Picasso, Valerie Jaudon, Alex Katz and Sylvia Sleigh.
The Mirus Gallery in San Francisco has also curated Jansen’s work into a group show with ten other contemporary artists. Called Dreamtime: New Surrealism, the exhibition delves into dreamlike imagery – albeit in radically different styles.
Slovenia’s International ART STAYS Fair will also have works by Jansen on display, and he is being included in an international group show in July at the historic Castello di Burunzo Castle in Varcelli, Italy that is being curated by a leading professor from the University in Venice.
UNIT A shows newly-painted Jansen works to Southwest Florida collectors and art lovers before they depart galleries and museums around the globe. For information, space rentals or private appointments, please contact Terry Tincher at firstname.lastname@example.org.
