A slow moving cold front will approach the Capital Region through the day today. This front will take it’s time passing through the area, likely not doing so until the pre-dawn hours on Monday. This will allow for rounds of showers and thunderstorms to visit the region through the course of the day today and through the evening hours. Some of the rainfall may be locally heavy at times. There will be lots of clouds in the sky today, and it will be somewhat muggy, with the mugginess lasting through the evening.
After residual shower activity associated with the actual frontal system passes through the region early on Monday, a lowering of humidity levels, and a brightening of the skies is expected by afternoon. High pressure will build into the region from the southwest and last through the midweek period.
A fast moving weather system will sweep through the region on Thursday, bringing a quick warm up to the region, complete with a chance for showers and some thunderstorms. A high pressure area looks to take hold of the weather for Friday, and a pattern similar to the one that is currently over the region, looks to take shape for next weekend. This would spell a dry first half of the weekend, followed by a return to unsettled conditions for the second half of the weekend as a stalled out frontal boundary plays the proverbial ‘cat and mouse’ game with the region.
