The adorable canine-feline duo who had come to rely on each other after being dumped on an animal-lover’s Conyers, Ga., farm has a rescue. Click here for the previous article.
Named Salt and Pepper by their savior, Tenny Carson, it was reported that both are healthy.
Weighing in at only three pounds when first taken to the Village Vets, Pepper, the gray kitty, is now a whopping five pounds. That may not seem like much to a human, but Pepper is 40 percent heavier than he was when he was first rescued. In addition, Pepper was found to have no feline diseases.
Salt, the basset hound-boxer mix, is heartworm negative. Being the shy one of the pair, Salt is reported to have “come out of his shell.” In fact, he’s actually described as “a really laid back sweetheart.”
Kelly Rousey forwarded the previous article to Atlanta Pet Rescue, where she had volunteered in the past. The rescue agreed to take them; however, the duo still needs a forever home. Due to the overwhelming response Erin Rousey received from all over the United States, she feels it is best to allow Atlanta Pet Rescue to take over from here. The rescue is in a much better position than she is to perform the necessary due diligence to ensure Salt and Pepper are placed in a good home.
Until a permanent home can be found, Atlanta Pet Rescue said it will “create a special place for [Salt and Pepper] to be housed together.” In addition, they assured Kelly that the two will be adopted out together.
There is one more matter that needs immediate attention. As stated in the prior article, Salt and Pepper’s rescuer, Teeny Carson, had to leave town, but did not want to take them to the shelter. She did what most animal rescuers do when they come across stray animals; she took them to her vet to not only receive vet care, but to be housed while she was out of town. As a result, there is an outstanding vet bill balance of almost $700. Financial assistance is needed.
If you can help defray the cost of vet care for this twosome, there are three ways you can donate:
- Call Village Vets directly at 404-844-4824 and you can give them your credit card number to be directed toward Salt and Pepper, under the name of Teeny Carson.
- Mail a check to the vet to: The Village Vets, 3404 Northside Parkway, Atlanta, Ga 30327. Make sure you note in bold letters that the donation is to applied towards Salt and Pepper’s care, under the account name of Teeny Carson.
- Send your donation by PayPal to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Every little bit helps. No amount is too small.
Noteworthy is that Carson often rescues animals left abandoned on her property. With our help, she can continue to help them. Without our help, she will no longer be able to provide them with the care and attention they need to find a good home. Simply put, it would become cost prohibitive. That’s the reality. Please help, if you can.
