Forney has some great community events coming up in the next couple of weeks, so if you like music, art, movies, and being involved in the community, read on for more information.
Crumbzz/FAC Patio Party at 212 S. Bois D’ Arc on June 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food, music, and fun as well as prizes. Click here for more details.
Free Movie in the Park at the Spellman Amphitheater inside Forney Community Park on June 1 at 9 p.m. The animated movie “Puss in Boots” will be shown, and all you need to bring is a chair or blanket to sit on.
Forney Live House Concert featuring Dan Navarro June 7 @ 7:30 p.m. Dan Navarro will be making his second appearance at a Forney House Concert. He is an amazing songwriter and performer. Navarro wrote the grammy nominated song “We Belong” for Pat Benatar, and he has written songs for Jackson Browne, The Bangles, Dionne Warwick, The Temptations, and others. Mark and Christie Conaway will be hosting the house concert at 400 S. Center Street in downtown. The Conaways said, “Dan is one of the nicest songwriters we’ve had in Forney. He is passionate about his art and he is very entertaining. Last years concert was one of our favorite evenings for Forney Live.” Tickets are $15 and available for purchase at forneyarts.org.
Forney Arts Council “2nd Saturdays” held in historic downtown Forney June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come check out the arts and crafts for sale from local artists. Also a Drum Circle is held at Bell Park downtown from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. during 2nd Saturdays. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. “Pickers in the Park” takes place at Bell Park. If you would like to participate, all you have to do is show up with your instrument.
Emily’s Monkeys will be holding a Sock Monkey making event in the old firehouse next to the Forney Arts building on Bois D’ Arc in downtown. The event is June 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will working in two shifts, morning and afternoon. All volunteers are welcome, no matter how long you are able to stay and help. Emily Hough is a Forney kid-extraordinaire who has been a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Emily and the Hough family show their support for the hospital by making and donating sock monkeys for the young patients at the hospital. 4-T’s BBQ has generously pledged to feed the June 8 volunteers that afternoon.
