Many folks today have lost their hope. They live in despair day after day, never realizing there’s more to life than what they see. They let circumstances or situations kill their hope. They don’t have any expectations that things will ever change.
All they are able to see are their sorrows or trials that life has brought them. They become disheartened because of all the misery they have experienced. Life can be brutal, cruel even, without hope in one’s life despondency can come.
This despondency can cause a person to take drastic measures to end the pain. What those without hope fail to realize is that life, while sometimes hard, can become joyful and full of hope once more.
The good news is this; Jesus gives us hope. He gives us joy if we will but only look to him for these things. The biblical definition of hope is “confident expectation.” Hope is a firm assurance regarding things that are unclear or unknown to us.
Those who put their hope and trust in God will never be disappointed. He will help those he calls his children. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. That doesn’t mean believers will not experience pain, suffering or misery. It simply means that God ultimately will not allow those hardships to put us to shame or confound us.
Those who trust in God can have the bold assurance he is near, that he will protect and help all those who call on his name. Psalm 50:15 says, “then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Those who love God can rest easy knowing that he will come when you cry out to him.
Psalm 91:14-16 says, “The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
We have the eternal promises of the God of the universe, the God who created all things. All we have to do is get them into our hearts so that when sorrows come we can speak hope to our own hearts. We can speak encouragement to ourselves like King David did.
1 Samuel 30:6 says, “David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God.” David was in great peril of losing his life. He was in despair and without hope. Despite being sorrowful he did something that changed his outlook. He found strength in the Lord.
How do we find strength in the Lord one might ask? We do this by finding Bible verses that brings hope into our lives. We use the scriptures to strengthen ourselves, to build hope in our hearts when times look dark. We meditate, upon God’s word. Simply, this means we speak certain bible verses to ourselves that deal with our problems or situations. Then we ruminate upon them. We let them soak into our spirits.
The Bible verses in this list are meant to help establish hope within your heart. They are meant as a starting point to get you going, to build you up and lift your spirit. They are accompanied with photos of nature to inspire hope in your heart.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
Our faith gives us the blessed assurance that God is for us and not against us. He has plans to give us a hope and a future.
Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.
Because he loves us with an everlasting love we can be confident and know our lives have meaning.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. God is our protector and he will look out for us. He will provide everything we need if we will only trust in him.
2 Corinthians 1:10
And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you. We can’t put our hope in mankind or even the world because they will eventually let us down. Therefore we can only put our hope in God, the one who will never disappoint us.
So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord. There will be times that come upon us that calls for us to be strong and to face our fears. We can face that which troubles us because our hope is in God.
You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.
There will come a day when putting our hope in God will pay off. The ultimate reward for trusting in God will allow us to spend an eternity with him.
We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it.)
All believers are given this hope when they put their trust in Jesus.
