On Jan. 2, 2013, the world watched as the Jodi Arias trial began. Charged with first-degree murder in the death of her lover Travis Alexander, 30, many simply couldn’t understand how the petite, 27-year-old, was physically and mentally capable of committing such a heinous, violent act. A pretty, blonde photographer from Yreka, California, Arias seemed to love Travis Alexander. He was one of her many boyfriends who she seemingly remained on good terms with, even after their breakup. How could she be capable of stabbing him 29 times, slicing his throat from ear to ear and shooting him in the head? How could she wield such violence within two minutes? Could Jodi Arias drag Alexander’s body down a hallway, stuff him in the shower and wash him off, leaving him to die? If so, what type of woman could be capable of something so brutal?
It’s easy to see why Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander first fell for each other. They both had an interest in religion and were entrepreneurs with the same business organization: Pre Paid legal services. When the two met in September 2006, at a Pre Paid Legal Services convention in Los Angeles, Arias had high hopes for her success in the business. Alexander had already achieved great success and was living the dream. While Alexander’s charm, blazing energy and charismatic personality was a natural draw, Arias was well spoken, obviously intelligent and a blonde bombshell. According to Arias’ trial testimony, the two had sexual relations within the first week of meeting.
Jodi Arias was living with her boyfriend Darryl Brewer in a California home the two purchased together. Like Travis Alexander, Jodi Arias met Darryl Brewer through her employment. He was older, divorced and had a five-year-old son. Brewer testified on Arias’ behalf and stated he never saw any sign of anything off or wrong with Arias. There was nothing in their relationship that would hint she was a violent person capable of slaughtering a man and leaving him for dead, then traveling to another state to meet another love interest.
Soon after meeting Travis Alexander, Arias’ relationship with Brewer deteriorated and the two sold their home and went their separate ways. By June 2007, Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander would officially break up; however, their relationship would then twist into a new direction.
Instead of ending things and going their separate ways, Jodi Arias moved to Mesa, Arizona and the two would continually meet up for sex.
Did Jodi Arias stalk Travis Alexander and continually lure him into bed through sex? Why did Travis Alexander continue to sleep with Jodi Arias after their relationship was over?
Their relationship continued as such for one year, until on June 4, 2008, Jodi Arias murdered the man she claimed to have loved.
