Last night’s special Bravo episode of “Watch What Happens: Live,” was titled “Jersey Housewives Tell All.” Host, Andy Cohen welcomed; Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Caroline Manzo, Kathy Wakile and Jacqueline Laurita for a glimpse into what will happen when the new season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” begins on June 2. Each cast member was interviewed separately, which was surprising to viewers, but gave each member a chance to speak their mind.
The episode started with Kathy looking awesome. Andy wanted to know what it was like growing up with Rosie, and having Teresa and Joe as cousins. Rosie and she are older than their cousins, but Kathy told fans that Teresa was Milania incarnate with energy and attitude. There was a period that the families did not speak and during Teresa’s teenage years, they were not around.
The episode was peppered with old photographs of the cast members when they were children and in their formative years, which was a delight to see.
Teresa recalled that Kathy did Teresa’s hair and makeup for her Sweet 16 party when the families were once again together. Andy asked if anything went down during her Sweet 16 party, ala the Posh Fashion Show. Nothing happened to the negative; it was just a good and fun party.
Caroline was asked if she remembered the first time she met Teresa and Caroline recalled that she vaguely remembered that she, and Dina worked at the mall together. She recalled that they were all hair and style back then. Caroline was never buddies with Teresa because she was older than Teresa and Dina.
Jacqueline loved being friends with Teresa because she was silly and fun. When she first met Caroline, her sister-in-law, she loved her because she let them live at her house. Although Caroline recalled that Jacqueline did not fit right in at first to her large clan, but Caroline loves her goofball ways. Although it was not always lollipops and roses, because after Jacqueline had her son, she had post-partum depression and she and Caroline had a fight and even a punch was thrown.
Caroline and Jacqueline both admitted that they did not like Melissa at first because of how Teresa felt about her. Melissa affirmed this, but knew that Caroline liked Joe instantly. Melissa recalled the first time she met Teresa. Teresa was very nice to her and asked her a lot of questions.
Caroline was asked what was her favorite moment in the show, and she replied, when Albie was dismissed from law school. She revealed the mother lioness inside of her and let him know that not only he, but thousands of other learning-disabled people were good enough to become what they dreamed. The flood of fan letters about this confirmed her belief in her son.
Melissa’s favorite moment was when she fell in the water in California with tadpoles climbing on her feet.
Jacqueline’s favorite moments were with Teresa in the chocolate shop and when they were in Italy.
Teresa proclaimed that her being a best selling author was her favorite, but Andy deferred to the table flip and Bravo acquiesced by showing it a few times. Andy also recalled when Teresa flipped him during a reunion show and threw him down like a rag doll.
Kathy told Andy that a Gorga was a Gorga, meaning they have a switch that will turn them in an instant. Teresa, Joe, Kathy and Rosie all have the switch and Melissa agreed about her husband Joe. They showed the christening scene as Joe flipped out at his sister. Melissa was happy to move on from this nasty scene. Melissa recalled when things got dicey between she and Teresa. It was before the RHONJ, after she had Antonia.
The sprinkle cookies episode came up too. Melissa wanted those cookies because she was pregnant, Teresa did not appreciate the cookies, as they were not the proper cookies to bring to an Italian home. Teresa explained to Andy, who is Jewish, that there are proper things to bring to different ethnicities.
Teresa and Jacqueline were both bothered by the breakup of their friendship.
Kathy, the peacemaker in the family, regarded the Napa trip as a chance to make up with Teresa and everyone else on the trip. When Kathy was talking to Teresa, Caroline was within earshot and then confronted Teresa and said many hurtful things to her. Caroline said Juicy Joe’s phone call was heartbreaking for her. Melissa cried when she saw the episode, Jacqueline sent Teresa a text and so did Kathy. When questioned about it, Teresa said it was only a bad moment because it was on television. Teresa said she has called Joe a dick when talking about him to her girlfriends, as a counter of him calling her the “c” word to his friend.
Jacqueline admitted to Andy that she had a tummy tuck and had her neck done.
Andy brought up the reunion last season that was a debacle. Melissa mentioned that Kathy gets loud when she gets mad and she was a different Kathy than fans got to know. When the mention of fathers came up, Kathy was livid and Rosie, who was backstage was ready to kill Teresa.
Andy asked Teresa if she was sorry about the blubber comment to Caroline at the reunion. Teresa said it was in the heat of the moment, when Caroline said her dress looked like a Christmas tree. However, the mood in the room was completely toxic and there was no changing that at the moment.
Andy asked Jacqueline about her son Nicholas having autism. He will be seen on the show this season and Jacqueline hopes that this may shed some light on what parents go through when their child is diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
As for the fights, each cast member had something to say about the fighting. Nobody seemed to enjoy this fact of the show. Teresa mentioned that there are two fights coming up this season.
Andy let fans know that the show will open at the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and the destruction it did to their summer homes. They know that so many people who had only one home, no longer have a home.
As for Teresa, Caroline said she is an enigma and as much as she wants to hate her, she just cannot. Melissa said she is family and will always have her back. Teresa said she has her happy back, and even she missed the old Teresa.
Thanks Andy for giving fans a sneak peek of their favorite show, it was another fun night on “Watch What Happens: Live.”
