As any Disney guest will notice is there are different seasons at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Each of these seasons determine how busy the parks and resorts will be. The busier times at the parks is generally over holiday weekends, during the summer and other school vacations. However, these are not the only times during the year when park attendance is higher than normal. There are many different events hosted at Disney World, which may be a factor in how crowded the parks may be.
So, what are some events that will affect the traffic at Disney World? Let’s take a look.
Cheerleading, Twirl and Dance Competitions
During the months of January, February, March and April, Disney is flooded with cheerleaders and dance teams from around the world for various competitions. During these times, the value resorts, Disney’s Pop Century and Disney’s All-Star Resorts are flooded with competitors. These events include the College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships, National Dance Team Championship, National High School Cheerleading Championship and many others.
In conjunction with another national cheer competition, Pop Warner brings a large number of kids to Disney World in December. Just like the other competitions earlier in the year, most kids stay at the value resorts during this competition.
Mardi Gras Week
This time of year, generally in February or March, gets a little bit busier as families make their way out of town to escape the local festivities during this holiday. Not a major impact, but when combined with an extended weekend or other event, the parks can be a little bit more crowded.
During the first week of June, the Disney parks get a little busier than normal during this week. Though the impact overall will not be noticeable, you may see an higher crowd volume at one park per day over this week.
Brazilian Tour Groups
We all have seen these groups at one of the Disney Parks. Though these groups do visit throughout the year, July is the month when large groups plan trips to Disney World. These groups tend to be loud and can cause a huge increase in park numbers.
Teachers in New Jersey have a convention every year. This convention generally takes place the first or second week of November. This is a time when may families take their kids out of school for the week and visit Disney during the off season. This can increase park numbers, but being this is a slow time of the year, it does not always have a huge impact.
ABC’s Very Merry Christmas Day Parade
Filmed every year at the Magic Kingdom, ABC’s Very Merry Christmas Day Parade, brings large numbers of guests to the park for the filming. This date is never officially released, but usually occurs shortly after Thanksgiving.
