A Daily Word from the Word for Wednesday, May 29, 2013
“Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation!” – Psalm 68:19
God is the Father of all blessings. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ! (Ephesians 1:3). Blessed be the Lord!
The Hebrew word for “blessed” as used in this verse is barak (pr. baw-rak), which means “to kneel; to bless God (as an act of adoration). What a beautiful sentiment! I love to bless the Lord! I love to lift up holy hands in praise, worship, and adoration to my beloved Father! My Abba Father! To God be the glory!
I come into overflowing agreement with the psalmist King David who exclaimed “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him” (Psalm 34:1-9).
Each and every day, the Lord loads us with benefits! I hear some of you lamenting “Oh Brother Matt, I don’t get loaded up, I barely get a crumb.” And to that I say: the devil is a liar! He is a lie from the pit of hell! You better make a lie out of the devil right now, my brother! You shake off that shoddy solo right now, my sister! If you are reading this, your wheelbarrow is loaded with benefits, if the Lord woke you up this morning, your basket is full of the Lord’s provision.
If things aren’t going the right way for you, remember this one very simple truth: it is never God, and it is always us. If you aren’t loaded up with blessings, then it isn’t God, so it must be (fill in the blank :-) ). Are you activating your blessings by blessing the Blessor, my brother? Are you approaching the throne of your Father with gratitude overflowing from your heart, my sister? Praise your blessings down, family! The size of your load is directly proportional to the level of your praise! In truth, your praise report determines the size of your pay loader!
Your circumstances better not determine the level and frequency of your praise! If they do, then you have it backwards. Your praise determines your circumstances! Whether you have one egg in your refrigerator or a dozen eggs, your praise should be the same. Whether you are driving a Buick or a Bentley, you better be praising Him like you drive a Bentley. Whether you have air in your car on a 96 degree sweltering summer day or not, you better be praising Him like you do!
I speak from experience! Been there, and done that! And I will continue to bless my Blessor regardless of whether I have much or I have little. Your praise is what determines how many eggs you have in the fridge; so if you are staring at one egg, laid by a one-legged, cross-eyed, irritated, broke-down, half-plucked chicken, your focus shouldn’t be on that situation—it needs to be on your praise!
The terms “load” and “benefit” come from the same Hebrew word amas (pr. aw-mas), with the same meaning, which is “to load” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). In order for God to load your provision, you need to come prepared to receive; and your level of praise, your blessing the Lord, determines your state of preparation.
The God of Salvation is El Yeshuwah (pr. El Yesh-oo-aw): the Almighty Savior, the Almighty Deliverer, the Almighty Healer, the Almighty Victory, the Almighty Prosperity, the Almighty Helper. Reach up and reach out to the Almighty Blessor with your arms wide open in complete and utter adoration, and your God, Who is Mighty to Save, will load you up with so many benefits that you will not have room enough to receive them! (Malachi 3:10). He is that kind of Father!
Father, thank You for blessing us beyond measure. We bless You because You are worthy of our blessings, our praise, our worship, and our adoration. We love You, we adore You, we bless You, and we call you Holy. Help us, Holy Father, to love You for Who You are first and foremost. The blessings are only sweet because they come from You—our true Blessing. Help us to live a life of constant praise and thanksgiving unto You. Most Giving Father, give us the right perspective, which is Your perspective. In Jesus Name, we thank You for the privilege and honor of calling You blessed. Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to get your eyes off of your circumstances and focus on the Father. Choose to look to the Blessor and not the blessing. Make a habit of creating an atmosphere of praise, worship, and thanksgiving each and every day. And continue to fight the good fight of opening your arms wide with adoration for the Father and giving Him a holy hug; for God, your More-than-Enough, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
