The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has opened its new Heavenly Spa by Westin, a 14,000 square feet facility offers 10 treatment rooms, a Halotherapy salt steam room, Vichy shower, manicure and pedicure stations as well as a two-story, 24-hour fitness studio and spa café.
To celebrate the opening, the 998-guestroom hotel – one of the top beachfront resorts in Florida – is offering “The Westin Soothe Package,” starting at $309 per night this summer, which includes accommodations, one welcome spa amenity, $50 spa credit per stay, daily complimentary breakfast for two and late 4 p.m. checkout.
While the new Heavenly Spa is not larger in size than its predecessor, Spa Director Allicyn Hughes said the new facility’s services and offerings “are more robust” than the previous spa.
“As part of the extensive transformation, the new spa is an official Westin branded Heavenly Spa offering signature treatments, amenities and branded ingredients,” Hughes said. “In addition, the new spa is located on the first floor of the resort overlooking the Atlantic Ocean as opposed to a facility near the golf course, which was a short shuttle ride away.”
Created by architecture and design firm Garcia Stromberg, the spa’s oceanfront design utilizes a palette of soft blues, greens and golds inspired by the sea. Each treatment room is marked with a one-of-a-kind nautical shell and the relaxation room is accented with distinctive spheres created from oyster shells, a green wall, Italian artwork and sculpture resembling a wall of rain.
The 726 square-foot duet treatment room offers unobstructed ocean views and a large soaking tub.
“The ground floor location of the spa will generate more guest awareness and overall business,” Hughes said. “Also Starwood guests familiar with the Westin brand’s Heavenly Spas will appreciate the distinctive treatments.”
For example, Hughes said, the 50-minute ESCAPE body treatment “reflects the locale and is a restorative exfoliation” with mango and coconut essence beneath a cascading vichy shower.
“The mango and coconut scents were introduced to this particular treatment to reflect the tropical environment of South Florida,” Hughes said.
The entire treatment menu, according to Hughes, designed to awaken the senses, The Heavenly Spa by Westin features a variety of massages, body treatments, facials, anti-aging enhancements, waxing, manicures and pedicures. To elevate the spa experience, the essential oils and natural plant extracts from Aromatherapy Associates are used in several signature treatments like the Energizing Scrub, which uses a personalized aromatherapy body wash and natural exfoliating olive grains to leave the skin feeling smooth and the mind energized.
The Heavenly Spa Signature massage begins with spa goers choosing a stone marked “hope,, “gratitude,” or “love” to encourage positive thoughts during the treatment.
The two-story WestinWORKOUT comprises an elevated cardio deck with Life Fitness ellipticals, treadmills and stationary bikes, each with an integrated docking station. The fitness studio also provides an array of free weights, pulley weight machines, medicine balls, yoga mats as well complimentary ear buds.
Guests can partake in a seasonal schedule of yoga classes, guided runs three times a week as part of the RunWESTIN program and other group fitness opportunities.
