Finishing touches are being put on at Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas water park, with a well-anitipated opening on Memorial Day weekend. The park, which is situated on a sprawling 41 acres in Southwest Las Vegas, is well-positioned to feature Nevada’s biggest ‘n’ best collection of slides and attractions that cater to families and thrill seekers alike. All slides and attractions have height and weight requirements to participate. Here’s a run-down of the attractions:
Rattler – This four-person ride is a first-of-its-kind slide in North America, taking riders through a series of twists and turns on their descent more than 360 feet to the splash down pool. Two distinct “rattles” shake them back and forth, delivering sensational oscillations and tons of wall time.
Constrictor – This attraction has been voted a Top 5 water slide by the Travel Channel’s 2012 Extreme Water Parks program. Riders will slip and slide their way into the belly of the snake on a multi-person raft, taking on the world’s tightest turns. They will speed down the enclosed flume into a series of corkscrew turns, snaking back and forth in spirals at speeds up to 18 miles per hour.
Colorado Cooler – This 1,000-foot winding waterway will be perfect to float around, relax on a tube and cool off in the hot summer sun for a refreshing river experience.
Canyon Cliffs – Two ultimate thrill slides – ideal for adrenaline seekers – begin more than six stories (or 60 feet tall) in the air. Riders will plummet into a gut-wrenching, heart-pounding almost vertical drop and accelerate to speeds up to 33 feet per second.
Splash Island –In the middle of the Colorado Cooler, Splash Island has colorful, interactive elements throughout the 10,500-square-foot multi-level aquatic playground. It is home to 11 slides, spray guns and geysers. The play structure’s main attraction is a massive tipping bucket spilling water onto guests below on timed intervals throughout the day.
Red Rock Bay – At the giant wave pool, experience three-foot-high swells in a tube or body surf for the ultimate ocean experience. It’s a great lounging location with gently rolling waves in the shallow end. This attraction was named by local resident Ted Stringer through the online Wave Pool Naming Contest in January 2013.
Desert Racers – From six stories high, this 360-foot raceway speeds riders, head first, on racing mats down six lanes of slides at speeds of more than 20 feet per second. It’s great for family and friends competitions.
Royal Flush Extreme – Guests enter an enclosed tube before being dropped into a giant bowl, fighting centrifugal forces as they swirl around before being flushed down the center in a tube and into the splash down below.
Hoover Half Pipe – This category five river rapid experience has all the fun of whitewater rafting. There’s an unexpected 57-foot drop before the raft goes vertical, shooting up the Hoover wall and sending riders back down and experiencing sheer weightlessness before exiting into calm waters below.
Zipp, Zapp, Zoom – These multi-person tube slides are intertwined for maximum fun, featuring drops, dips and turns through more than 300 feet of water-filled thrills. Translucent colored sections of the slide add a dazzling visual element.
