Which stores and seafood companies have pledged to avoid GE salmon?

by used view

Nearly 60 grocery stores and food co-ops have pledged that they will not sell genetically engineered salmon, including major companies like Target, Whole Foods, Hy-Vee, Trader Joe’s and Aldi.

This is good news in light of the fact that the FDA has said that it will not require GE salmon to be labeled if they approve it for sale in the United States, despite the fact that a recent poll showed that 91% of Americans were opposed to introducing GE fish into our markets.

The Center for Food Safety, Friends of the Earth and a coalition of thirty consumer, fishing, environmental and related organizations have launched a national campaign for GE-Free Seafood to help consumers keep updated on the issue and make our voices heard.

They’ve produced tools, petitions and lists to help keep us informed about which companies have pledged to avoid GE salmon and which have not.
