Who Went Home on The Bachelorette 2013 in Antigua: Bachelorette Finale Recap (July 29)
Reality Steve’s Bachelorette spoilers have indicated all season that Brooks Forester would be the man sweeping Desiree Hartsock off her feet during the finale, but tonight, we watched Brooks drop a bombshell on her instead: he’s not in love with her!
While in the Caribbean, Desiree said in voice-over that she could see the “one of a kind” 28-year-old as her husband and that she was in love with him, but it turned out Brooks had been having his doubts since hometown week. Before heading to the island, he actually went back home again alone to discuss his reservations with his family, who assured him they were behind him no matter what. “Don’t propose if you have any doubts, though,” his mother advised him.
When he arrived in Antigua, Brooks briefly sat down with host Chris Harrison before breaking the news to Des. The Bachelorette spoilers we’ve read didn’t mention any of this! Apparently, Desiree wasn’t expecting it either, because she just sobbed “Why now?” when she realized Brooks was really, truly breaking up with her. To that end, he told her he “didn’t know” how he felt until right then. He kept apologizing, until Des finally, mercifully, asked him to stop.
Even though Brooks is the man who went home on The Bachelorette 2013 Week 10 after he broke her heart and left during the Fantasy Suites episode, the long, drawn-out break up and lingering on both of their parts suggests a possible set-up for the conclusion of the The Bachelorette finale next week. Perhaps, and just hear us out, but perhaps Brooks will turn back up! With a ring for Desiree! Shocker!!!
Or not. We don’t know. But Bachelorette spoilers from sources that are usually pretty much on the money have been saying it’s Brooks for months. It’s just as likely that Des walks off the show alone next week, giving both Drew and Chris the kiss-off and not getting engaged at all, we suppose, but something in tonight’s energy (or lack of it) made us feel like we haven’t seen the last of Desiree and Brooks. There is unfinished business, certainly…but does that add up to an engagement? Stay tuned!
