Finally, our President who deflects bad press as if he was made of Teflon, has a few blows to his armor. With a slew of scandals, cover-ups, press secretary gaffes and attorney general off the record meetings in regards to illegally obtaining information from the press, the Obama administration is reeling and scrambling to find answers that haven’t been “slightly” edited. It is only a matter of time now until, as Jeremiah Wright infamously proclaimed, “America’s chickens come home to roost”. Okay, now that the fiction part of the article is over, the discussion can move to what is actually going to happen.
If it is not already apparent, the playbook that the Obama administration is going with is blame the bureaucrat. In all of the trouble currently swirling around, the fall guy is not going to be an elected or high ranking official but a easily replaced political appointee. And in all fairness, that is how it has to be. The government that we currently are experiencing is one that claims to know all and be all, one that cares about you because “government is the one thing we all do together“. Except when anything bad happens. Fast and furious, Benghazi, AP phone tapping, and the IRS scandal all have happened under Barack Obama’s watch, even though he is post-partisan and cares. Even if he does care, which he does not, he cannot be everything he promises to be. The sheer size of our bureaucracy cannot allow it.
American’s have a very strong love affair with their history. Freedom, the founding fathers, American exceptionalism are all very patriotic and make everyone feel fuzzy inside. Our history also has an uncanny ability to blind us to how little of that past that we still resemble. The democratic republic, with a small federal government, that flourished until WWI is nothing but a faint shadow of the big government, euro-socialism that the U.S. has become. The President did not specifically ask for the IRS to target conservative groups or DOJ to tap AP reporters phones. They were just doing what they were built to do, their job.
“The only people who don’t want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide.” – Barack Obama
