George Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding in Texas and the Internet has lit up with debate. On July 31, MSN Now reported that Zimmerman was stopped by police in Forney, Texas and he told the officer that he had a gun in the glove box of his truck. This is not illegal in Texas — but because it’s Zimmerman and because he had a gun… people are going nuts.
“It wasn’t for super-excessive speeds, they just got him on regular speeding. It’s a pretty routine stop except for the fact that it was George Zimmerman,” said city manager, Brian Brooks. The whole ordeal lasted about five minutes in real life but it will likely trend for days on the Internet.
Zimmerman was pulled over while driving “no where in particular” — at least that’s what he told the officer according to TMZ. The site also points out that Zimmerman wasn’t driving around wearing a disguise of any kind. Evidently he feels safe in Texas — but he still has his gun at arm’s length just in case.
This is the second time that George Zimmerman has been in the news since he was found “not guilty” in the Trayvon Martin murder case. Last week, Zimmerman was credited with saving a family after a car accident. Evidently he doesn’t feel the need to go into hiding despite the face that so many people hate him.
Zimmerman might get pulled over again in the several years. Question is… when will it not be considered “news”?
