“I am a big fan,” said Jacob Staup emphatically “and, Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) is my favorite band!” “Me too,” stated William Ramsey, seemingly still in disbelief with what had just transpired a few moments earlier. “I was extremely shaky when I got my autograph.” You see, Staup, Ramsey and Maggie Ingram traveled together from Brownsburg, IN, to attend a recent Meet & Greet at Guitar Center Indianapolis, featuring Five Finger Death Punch guitarist, songwriter and founding member, Zoltán Báthory and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Nearly 100 diehard fans came together to cheer on and have fun with their favorite “rock gods.”
5FDP are currently enjoying Billboard chart and Rock Radio airplay success for their first single, “Lift Me Up” (feat: Rob Halford [Judas Priest]) off of their new album entitled, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Vol. 1 released Tuesday, July 30, 2013. The new album contains 14 tracks and in order are: “Lift Me Up” (feat: Rob Halford [Judas Priest]), “Watch You Bleed,” “You,” “Wrong Side of Heaven,” “Burn MF,” “I.M. Sin,” “Anywhere But Here” (feat: Maria Brink [In This Moment]), “Dot Your Eyes,” “M.I.N.E. (End This Way),” “Mama Said Knock You Out” (feat: Tech N9ne), “Diary of a Deadman,” “I.M. Sin” [Bonus] (feat: Max Cavalera [Soulfly]), “Anywhere But Here” [Bonus] (feat: Maria Brink), “Dot Your Eyes” [Bonus] (feat: Jamey Jasta [Hatebreed]) and is Co-produced with Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Hinder).
Báthory, a winner of the “Best Shredder” award at the 2010 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards and Spencer, named “Best Drummer” at Revolver Magazine’s Golden Gods Awards in 2012; visited Guitar Center Indianapolis prior to 5FDP’s evening tour stop at Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville, IN, to celebrate with fans and support their Dean Guitars and Ddrums product lines, respectively. Báthory could not wait to chat up his new signature AR-6 Dean Guitar.
We call it an AR-6,” he exclaimed, “still working on the details and whatnot because I want it to be perfect! I want it to be one of the best guitars Dean Guitars ever had! It’s a combination of the things I like: Ferrari Red, with some carbon fiber inlays; it even has a machine gun handle! I think everything is in it!”
When asked if the Meet & Greet was a success, Guitar Center Indianapolis Manager, Josh Stuban, gave an emphatic and resounding, “yes!” He added,
We are trying to get more artists and with the help of our Guitar Center Support Center are looking to schedule about one a month. We have legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff coming Tuesday, August 20th. We do offer classes and clinics and will soon be adding a Guitar Center Studios in this location [8475 Castleton Corner Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250] later this year.” Stuban paused, took a deep breath and with a wide smile excitedly said, “many more people can learn in-depth skills…it’s gonna be cool!” Stuban then recalled hearing “you are my idol,” a remark made by a younger fan earlier in the Meet & Greet to Báthory and Spencer. Stuban paused again and thought out loud, “that was cool…I remember those days.”
